About Us

We, Rita and Glyn Hughes, decided to build our family-run chalet in Morzine after first visiting the village a decade ago and falling in love with its natural beauty and charm.

As experienced skiers we have travelled all over the world pursuing our passion but Portes du Soleil has a unique quality and variety of slopes which makes you come back again and again.

After returning to Morzine each year and building our chalet in the village three years ago, we made an important decision last Christmas to move here permanently and would like to invite you to spend a weekend or week with us (one bedroom in the chalet is designated for our own personal use).

We mix Russian charm with a twist of Welsh humour and have an easy-going attitude to life. We met in Moscow in 1996 while Glyn was setting up a media company. However, Glyn's heart has always belonged on the slopes. He is now a level 2 BASI qualified ski instructor with teaching experience in both Switzerland and Italy.

We have a fun-loving ten-year-old son Alex who attends the local French school, enjoys skiing, and is only too happy to have swapped noisy, polluted London for the tranquil Alpine life.
